Boating Directions to Kai Kotch:
These Waypoints lead to the Island Houses dock in Sand Pointe Cove
from the North Sound. Kai Kotch is Island House 17.
Use of the waypoints and the charts in this website are at your own risk. Kai Kotch does not warrant that this route or water depth will be suitable for your boat to navigate. If this is the first time you are following the route, we strongly recommend you do so in daylight when you can visually spot underwater obstructions, and keep a close eye on your depth sounder.
Waypoints shown in BLUE are between or near channel markers (Green & Red buoys).
Remember to follow the Rules:
Red Right Returning--the Red channel markers should be on your Right when in the channel Returning toward the shore / dock.
Stay to the Right of the channel when crossing another vessel head-on.
Reduce speed to "No Wake" (5 knots or less) and tilt your propeller up in the channel and all the way in the cove. There are shallow spots, and obstructions to avoid. Some obstructions observed near the route have been included in the Waypoints table and shown on the chart, but there may be others that would foul your boat hull or propeller depending on draught and tide.
Remember to watch out for kayaks in the channel and in the cove, and reduce your boat speed to avoid your wake swamping or capsizing them. At night-times with no (or low) moonlight, be particularly watchful for kayak tour groups. Those kayaks display a small Red light on the back of the Rear seat.
